About the Company 

Established in 2014, ForBis Accounting is a Singapore based professional services firm, providing services including, corporate secretarial, accounting, filing, tax, business consulting, licensing application and training. The firm aims to deliver high-impact business solutions to serve the SME market by incorporating digital strategies into its offerings.

My Role

The overarching horizontal and vertical of the company is my responsibility. Actively seek new business opportunities for the company, ensure all our clients have been their legal compliance obligations and keep them satisfied with our services is part of my daily routine. We are also looking to expand the company by offering new and innovative products and services, strategising and executing outreach and forging partnerships with other companies, societies and associations.

Achievements

Despite the absence of any marketing, the company had a growing client list who appreciate the transparent pricing and quick responses. The company also managed to clinch several partnerships (DBS, Xero, QuickBooks, ABSS – formerly known as MYOB) and won awards such as the NS Mark (Gold). Since successfully headhunting a new partner into the company in 2018, our company have seen tremendous growth in terms of revenue and profitability.

About the Company

Founded in 2015 with a good friend, LEJOUR’s ambition was to provide high-quality shadow education services (known as tuition locally) at affordable rates. The company is registered with the Ministry of Education from early on to give parents the peace of mind. Despite our relatively young age, both partners have had a decade of teaching and/or tutoring experience before founding the company.

Our experience was a result of our dreams of becoming teachers since secondary school days and our personal experience of the benefits of education. Receiving quality education has helped us climb the social ladder and secure opportunities that our parents cannot even dream of. Thus the company tagline, “Freedom Through Education”.

Education here isn’t just about getting your qualifications but being able to comprehend & critic the materials learnt. LEJOUR pedagogy is guided by its proprietory “SEAL IT” learning competency.

My Role in the Organisation

My key functions include curriculum making, oversight of academic and assessment matters as well as the training and professional development of all our staff. In addition, I am responsible for the general company direction, student enrollment and managing the finances. 

National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University

Obtained the Master of Education (Curriculum & Teaching) from the National Institute of Education (Singapore) which is solely responsible for training all educators employed by the Ministry of Education in Singapore.

It provides one with the foundational know-how and the theoretical underpinnings of the curriculum making process from design and implementation to evaluation, an informed and critical understanding about curriculum issues in the local and international contexts and an appreciation of your role and responsibilities as curriculum leaders.

The programme allowed me to reflect on my personal beliefs and teaching practice. It broadened my horizons by making me conscious of what I am teaching others but also what I have chosen not to teach. It reminded me that while words spoken may have intended and unintended effects, words that were not spoken also could influence the minds of our charges.

The University of London, under the academic direction of the lead college, London School of Economics and Political Science.

100% examinations based, the UOL BSc Accounting & Finance is a rigorous programme awarded by the University of London (UOL) and developed by a member institution, London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE). It lays a strong foundation in accountancy and financial practices. It helps you develop critical skills for a wide range of real life situations in the banking and financial sectors.

Completed the Ministry of Manpower certification exam for Employment Intermediaries – Key Appointment Holders. Allowing me to operate a licensed employment agency in Singapore.

An executive program for business leaders to understand blockchain theories and use cases for implementation in their respective fields.

Equips candidates with the essential skills to deliver training and assessments across different industries. ACTA (5th Version) emphasises knowledge acquisition through reflective practice and active learning through skills practice. The programme is delivered as an integrated curriculum (cohort intake) and emphasises peer learning, use of technology, reflective practice and continuous professional development.

Founded in 1935, the association has been promoting cultural activities and scholarly pursuits among its members.

As the publicity secretary, I am responsible for helping to market events and activities to youths in the neighbourhood. I am also required to oversee all materials to check for insensitive contents and wordings before allowing the publication to be released. I planned, executed and assisted in several programmes and activities for the young during my time as a volunteer.
